Tips to keep your weight in check this festive season

The celebrations have started with the festive season and there's a jubilant mood all around. People have worked hard all throughout the year and now they rightfully deserve to enjoy the fruits of their labor. The festive season is the perfect time to relax and unwind and to enjoy life with family and friends. It is also the time to enjoy some of the most delicious preparations known to humankind, especially the sweets made from pure milk or full cream organic milk (Niryas.com). You might be a bit worried about adding inches to your waist during the festive season, but with our special tips, you can avoid that possibility. Here's how you can continue to savor all your favorite sweets and other stuff during the festive season and still keep your weight in check.
Have sweets as snacks: Instead of having sweets and other festive food with your meals, you can use them as snacks. You can eat them at breakfast and in the evening. Normally, people eat festive foods along with their meals and they also have their snacks in the morning and evening. This significantly increases their overall calorie intake. By using sweets and other festive foods as your morning and evening snack, you can easily reduce your overall daily calorie intake by 500 to 1000 calories.
Use home-cooked stuff: You may buy sweets from your local store, but it might contain a lot more sugar than needed. This will increase your overall calorie intake. An alternative is to prepare sweets at home, wherein you can control the amount of sugar you want. You just need to buy some pure milk or full cream organic milk of a reputed brand and use it to prepare sweets and other food items. Preparing sweets at home will also ensure that there is no adulteration.
Have more vegetables and proteins: You can include more vegetables and proteins in your meals during the festive season. It would reduce your cravings for festive foods. For example, if earlier you used to eat 250 grams of festive food, it will reduce to 150 grams or 100 grams when you include additional vegetables and proteins in your meals. You will not be completely avoiding the festive foods, but only reducing the overall intake. And that too will occur naturally; you do not have to make efforts to suppress your craving for festive food.
Use these tips and you can continue to enjoy your favorite festive food items without worrying about adding inches to your waistline.

Kevin Missal reveals the captivating cover of his most-awaited book Kalki

Best content syndication site : Glamourtreat.com -- After teasing book lovers for quite some time, quirky and prolific writer Kevin Missal has finally revealed the highly attractive cover of his most-awaited book Kalki. The cover launch event was hosted by the publisher Kalamos Literary Services LLP and it was held on September 24 at Title Waves, Mumbai’s first large format boutique bookstore. While at the cover launch event of Kalki, Newspatrolling team had a great time witnessing this young writer talk about his journey, the ideas that led to the book Kalki and the efforts that went into designing the book’s cover.
It was pleasantly surprising to know that Kevin had started writing when he was just 12 years old. And he was not just scribbling a few notes; rather, he actually wrote an entire book of 50 pages. He continued to write more novels during his teens, but he always had this immense desire to create something big. Then one day, it was his dad that guided him to write something epic, something like ‘Baahubali’ that people can easily relate to. His father’s idea got Kevin thinking and he started writing about the characters and the fantasy world that make up his book Kalki.
With an epic story running into several hundred pages, Kevin wanted the best cover for his book Kalki. After many initial failures, Kevin finally decided to hire the best designers for the job. He chose Arthat studio, the same people who created the cover of Amish Tripathi’s top selling book ‘Sita: Warrior of Mithila’. Before revealing the cover, Kevin introduced us to the design team that had created the cover for Kalki. One of the designers said that their primary focus was to create something fascinating that would stand out among a thousand books.
After this, it was time for the unveiling of the cover of Kalki. The chief guests were invited to the stage and Kevin unveiled the cover. As soon as it was done, there were loud cheers and whistles from the audience, as everyone was amazed by the depth and inherent power of the book’s cover. The cover features a well-built man in motion with a bow and a quiver full of arrows slung over his shoulders and a shining falchion sword in his hand. There’s a group of people running towards him, probably his enemies, and he is poised to fight them single-handedly. The cover truly captures the essence of the book’s lead hero, who is a mortal, but has the soul of god Vishnu.

Kalki by Kevin Missal is available for pre-order on Amazon India and Pustakmandi. It is expected to be released around October 7, 2017.

Diwali Celebrations: You may be buying adulterated sweets from your local store

We eagerly wait an entire year for the celebrations to begin with Dussehra and Diwali. And when it's there, we loosen our purse strings and unleash our appetite to savor the wide variety of goodies prepared during this time. Sweet shops are flooded with people, as there's a huge demand for milk-based sweets. However, in recent times, adulteration of milk based food products has become a common phenomenon, especially during festivals such as Diwali.
You may trust your local sweet shop, but are you sure about the people who supply full cream organic milk and milk products to your local sweet shop. Your local sweet shop is unlikely to have a laboratory to test its products, so it's just a matter of luck whether you get pure milk based sweets or adulterated stuff.
Quality checks are often conducted by government agencies during the festive season, but they too face the problem of limited manpower. Since they cannot cover all sweet shops, they take the route of random sampling. This again leaves gaps and increases the possibility that adulteration may go undetected at many sweet shops. Reports indicate that around 20 to 40 percent of milk based products sold during Diwali are of substandard quality or have adulterants.
You may think about taking some samples and getting it tested by a private laboratory. However, private laboratories do not come cheap and they may charge you anywhere between Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 for testing food samples. It can also cost you more, depending on the number of tests being conducted and the type of testing equipment used by the private laboratory.
If you have adequate funds, you can certainly utilize the services of a private laboratory. You can also connect with other people in your social circle who live nearby and ask them to contribute to the cause. If they too buy from the same sweet shop, they may also be interested to know whether they are getting pure milk based products or adulterated stuff.

Another option is to buy packaged full cream organic milk from a reputed brand and use it to prepare the sweets at home. It’s true that you will have to make additional efforts to prepare sweets at home, but considering the risks, it would be worth it. If you care about your health and that of your family members, you should take some wise decisions this Diwali.

Lucknow Central Movie Review

Release Date: September 15, 2017
Cast: Farhan Akhtar, Diana Penty, Ronit Roy, Gippy Grewal, Deepak Dobriyal, Rajesh Sharma, Inaamulhaq, Ravi Kishan
Director: Ranjit Tiwari
Genre: Action, Crime, Drama
Duration: 2 hours 13 minutes
There’s a reason why some of us like prison-break movies and just can’t seem to get enough of it. May be the liking stems from our inherent knowledge that the earth is essentially a prison and getting out from it is quite impossible, unless you have worked hard to acquire the resources needed to achieve escape velocity. Life in prison is mostly the same, with the twin possibilities that you either complete your full time there or acquire the resources to break free. Lucknow Central also delves into the lives of people who have been punished for no mistake of their own. The movie sends the message that life is not fair and that you can either keep blaming your destiny or take steps to make changes and set things right.
The movie follows the life of Kishan Girhotra (Farhan), who hails from a small town but aspires to become a top singer. However, his dreams are wasted when he is accused of murdering an IAS officer. He is innocent, but still he gets jailed for a crime he did not commit. However, just as everything seems bleak, he gets support from some of the other prisoners and an NGO worker (Diana Penty). Together, they plan to form a rock band inside the jail and start to pursue their interest in music once again. However, as jail officials soon discover, there is more to their plans than meets the eye. Will Kishan and his group succeed in their plans or will they be condemned to the confines of the prison walls forever?
Lucknow Central works as a feel-good movie, as it has the essential message of winning against all odds. This appeals to the audience and covers up for the faults of the movie. Farhan has done a good job in his role of a small town guy with big ambitions. He has effectively portrayed the usual flaws and strengths that are evident in such a character. Other actors have also delivered good performances.
If you like crime stories, Lucknow Central is just the thing you need. Watch it for its engaging suspense and an evolved climax that will surprise you.

All three hospitals in Kafr Nabl, Khan Sheikhoun and Heish sub-districts are no longer in service.

An attack on a hospital specializing in maternal and paediatric services in Heish killed one health worker and severely injured another. The hospital, which sustained significant structural damage, previously provided an average 13,150 consultations, 2,360 admissions, 1,500 major surgeries and care for 1,500 war-related trauma cases every month.

The hospitals in Kafr Nabl and Khan Sheikhoun previously each registered 2,300 and 800 consultations per month, along with surgeries and trauma care.

In northern rural Hama, near the town of Atshan, two paramedics were reportedly killed in an attack that destroyed two ambulances.

These attacks deprive civilians caught in the crossfire of the critical trauma care and health services they need.

Every day, health workers risk their lives to care for the sick and wounded across the country. We must continue to protect and support them as they work to save lives.

WHO urges all parties to the conflict to refrain from attacking civilians and civilian infrastructure, as required by International Humanitarian Law.

Attacks on health workers and facilities are immoral and illegal, they must stop.

Upset Hindus urge Alibaba to apologize & withdraw Krishna-Ganesha doormats

Best content syndication siteGlamourTreat.com - Upset Hindus are urging Hangzhou (China) headquartered e-commerce giant Alibaba Group for immediate withdrawal from its website of doormats carrying images of Hindu deities Lord Krishna and Lord Ganesha; calling it highly inappropriate.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it was shocking to visualize that Alibaba, for its mercantile greed, was apparently persuading the world to scrub/wipe the soles of their shoes before entering a building/bathroom on the faces of images of gods which Hindus worshipped.

Hindu deities Lord Ganesha and Lord Krishna, whose images were depicted on doormats sold at Alibaba website, were highly revered in Hinduism and were meant to be worshipped in temples or home shrines and not for putting one’s feet on for cleaning or sweeping on or to “dry wet feet, grab dirt, dust and grime”, as was the case here. Inappropriate usage of Hindu deities or concepts for commercial or other agenda was not okay as it hurt the devotees; Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, indicated.

Rajan Zed also urged Alibaba group to offer a formal apology.

Hinduism was the oldest and third largest religion of the world with about 1.1 billion adherents and a rich philosophical thought and it should not be taken frivolously. Symbols of any faith, larger or smaller, should not be mishandled, Zed noted.

Rajan Zed further said that such trivialization of Hindu deities was disturbing to the Hindus world over. Hindus were for free artistic expression and speech as much as anybody else if not more. But faith was something sacred and attempts at trivializing it hurt the followers, Zed added.

Alibaba Group, established in 1999, reported revenue as $7,403 million in the quarter that ended June 30, a revenue growth of 56%. Its “mission” is “to make it easy to do business anywhere” and its “vision” includes “a company that lasts at least 102 years”. Jack Yun MA, a former English teacher from Hangzhou, is the Executive Chairman. It also has offices in Hong Kong, Taiwan, USA, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, India and Australia.

Wanna Protect Your Family from Common Habits Which Make Your Loo A Health Hazard?

Glamourtreat.com :Content Syndication -

We all know that the toilet can be the best place for germs and bacteria, so we try our best to keep as clean as possible. However, no matter how clean we keep it, we could be missing some important things which deteriorate all our good work. Moreover, we are sorry to say that most statistics showed that men can be the first one to be blamed for that.
You might clean your toilet daily and keep it spotless, but it won’t always be enough, toilet have a reputation for being the dirtiest place in any house. While we clean our bathroom everyday (once or twice, we may be falling in some traps which will turn our toilets into a health hazard as a result. According to the experts, there are the two main traps which almost everyone do without realising: 1- Flushing with the toilet seat UP.
We all know that we must not flush with the toilet seat up, but most of us, especially men, still do it. It may not seem like a big deal for some of you, but it is churning up all manner of nasties. The main role of the flush is to take away the toilet bowl contents.
These contents contains various bacteria and germs including high quantities of Salmonella and Shigella. However, not any flush can carry waste away, it must be powerful and sometimes it can fire up to 15 feet in the air.
When we flush with the toilet seat up, the dirty contaminated water lands on other surfaces in our bathroom like the sink, floor, or our toothbrushes which is the biggest danger.
Therefore, it is so crucial to put the toilet seat down before flushing in order to protect your bathroom against the spread of germs in the bathroom. In this way, you will keep any germs inside the toilet bowl and prevent it from going outside and polluting from other surfaces.
2- Wrong usage of the toilet brush. Sometimes it is not enough to flush to remove all the dirt and germs so we resort to the toilet brush. In general, we often use the toilet brush to scrub away faecal matter and when we finish.
However, the bacteria which is found in stools will transfer to the toilet brush and stay there when we place it back into the toilet brush holder.
In this step, we have the bacteria on the wet toilet brush which will encourages germ multiplication. The solution here is to bleach it after each use to kill germs and minimise the danger, then left to sit over the toilet bowl until dry.
It is very recommended to use a rubber gloves and cleaning products to clean the brush completely without spreading the germs. Bathrooms are the dirtiest place in your house, and your husband and kids may not be as responsible as you. Therefore, keep your eyes open to keep your family safe.

PM Modi emphasizes again on clean India on 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago address

Glamourtreat.com content syndiation sites :
Addressing students on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s famous address at World Parliament of Religions in Chicago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday again stressed on the need for all Indian citizens to join in the campaign for a “Clean India”, saying citizens should think fifty times and ask themselves whether they have the right to chant ‘Vande Mataram’ when they can’t keep the country clean or abuse the land on which they live.
“First we chew tobacco and then spit on our Bharat Maa, then, do we have the right to chant Vande Mataram?” asked Prime Minister Modi to the youth attending the event.
Prime Minister Modi addressing the issue of cleanliness in India said that do we have the right to shout ‘Vande Mataram’ if we throw garbage inside our own nation.
“If anybody has the right over this nation, then they are those who work for the cleanliness of the nation, and only they have the right to call Bharat Maa theirs,” said Prime Minister Modi.’
He further said that whether we clean this nation or not, no one has the right to dirty it.
“First make a toilet and then talk about the prayer room,” Prime Minister Modi said addressing the youth.
The speech was listened to by university students via video conference across the nation. Talking about the day, Prime Minister Modi said that today 9/11 became widely spoken about after 2001, but there was another 9/11 of 1893 which the nation remembers.
“Just with a few words, a youngster from India won over the world and showed the world the power of oneness,” Prime Minister Modi said.
He also said that the 9/11 of 1893 was about love, harmony and brotherhood.
Talking about Swami Vivekananda, a major influence in introducing Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world, Prime Minister Modi said, “Swami Vivekananda introduced India’s power and strength to the entire world.”
He further said that Swami Vivekananda raised his voice against the social evils that has entered the India society, and added, “Only rituals will not connect an individual to divinity. Swami Vivekananda had said ‘Jan Seva is Prabhu Seva’, meaning serving the people is like serving the God.”
Prime Minister also said that more than being in search of a Guru, Swami Vivekananda was in search of the truth.
“Swami Vivekananda did not believe in sermonising. His ideas and idealism paved way for an institutional framework through Ramakrishna Mission,” Prime Minister Modi conferred.
Ramakrishna Mission is an Indian religious organization which forms the core of a worldwide spiritual movement known as the Ramakrishna Movement or the Vedanta Movement.
The mission is named after and inspired by the Indian saint Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and founded by Swami Vivekananda on 1 May 1897. The mission is located in Kolkata and subscribes to the ancient Hindu philosophy of Vedanta and aims at the harmony of religions and promoting peace and equality for all humanity.
On the 16th anniversary of the dreadful 9/11 attacks by al-Qaeda’s founder and the mastermind of the attacks, Prime Minister Modi said, “There is one 9/11 where Vivekananda worked hard to flourish the country, on other hand we saw the 21st century 9/11 that destroyed humanity.”
Hailing legendary poet, literate and India’s first Noble prize winner Rabindranath Tagore, Prime Minister Modi said that there were two times when India’s name emerged all over the nation, “First when Rabindranath Tagore won the Nobel Prize and second was when Vivekananda gave his 9/11 speech in Chicago,” also emphasizing that both of them hailed from Bengal.
As supporters present started shouting ‘Vande Mataram’ Prime Minister Modi said that as he was listening to the youth chanting the words he got “goosebumps” all over.
“The value of patriotism fills my heart. But do we have the right to say Vande Mataram?” asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He went on to say that those who chant Vande Mataram go on to throw litter and garbage on the roads.
“Those who clean the roads have the first right in our country,” Prime Minister Modi said.
Stressing on cleanliness in universities during elections, Prime Minister Modi said that student organisations, while campaigning for university elections should give more importance to cleanliness.
“There is no better place for creativity and innovation than university campuses,” said Prime Minister Modi.
Prime Minister Modi also said that people in the country should be job-creators and not job-seekers.
Trying to motivate the youths, Prime Minister asked the students to stop being afraid of failures.
He said, “No one in this world has succeeded without failures. Both knowledge and skills are equally important.”
Hailing Swami Vivekanda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Swami Vivekanda said that the solutions to world’s problems will come from Asia.”
He also added that India is standing at the world’s attention due to the power of the people, “India is changing, India’s standing at the global stage is rising and this is due to Jan Shakt.”
Addressing the thousands of youth watching him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said that there is no life without creativity.
“Let our creativity also strengthen our nation and fulfill the aspirations of our people,” he said, adding that “Follow the rule and India will rule.”
Prime Minister Modi also said that people celebrate different events in colleges, including the ‘Rose Day’.
“While some may be opposed to it, I am not. But does a college in Haryana ever thinks about celebrating Tamil Day in college?” asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also said that there is no better place for creativity and innovation than university campuses and further added that celebrating such days in college universities will lead to formation of United India.
“We don’t want to create robots, we just want to enhance creativity,” Prime Minister Modi said.
Swami Vivekanada, spoke about science in his address at Parliament on Religion in Chicago on 11 September, 1893, he said:
“Science is nothing but the finding of unity. As soon as science would reach perfect unity, it would stop from further progress, because it would reach the goal. Thus chemistry could not progress farther when it would discover one element out of which all others could be made. Physics would stop when it would be able to fulfill its services in discovering one energy of which all the others are hut manifestations, and the science of religion become perfect when it would discover Him who is the one life in a universe of death, Him who is the constant basis of an ever-changing world, One who is the only Soul of which all souls are but delusive manifestations. Thus is it, through multiplicity and duality, that the ultimate unity is reached. Religion can go no farther. This is the goal of all science.
All science is bound to come to this conclusion in the long run. Manifestation, and not creation, is the word of science today; and the Hindu is only glad that what he has been cherishing in his bosom for ages is going to be taught in more forcible language and with further light from the latest conclusions of science.”
The speech was celebrated all over the world and hence Prime Minister Narendra Modi was addressing the youth on the same to mark its 125th anniversary.
Earlier West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted about the same and said, “Our heartfelt homage to Swami Vivekananda on the anniversary of his historic address to the Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893.”

India High Commission made demarche to Australian govt. about “offensive” lamb ad

Newspatrolling.com / Glamourtreat.com :The High Commission of India in Australia (Canberra) “have made a demarche to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Department of Communication and Arts and Department of Agriculture bringing to their notice an offensive advertisement by Meat and Livestock Australia that hurt the religious sentiments of the Indian community”, according to its release.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, welcoming the High Commission of India initiative of formal diplomatic representation of the official position regarding this insensitive ad, urged the Australian authorities to impose fine on Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) for hurting the sentiments of Hindus and other religious communities; besides asking MLA to immediately withdraw “You Never Lamb Alone” video ad.

Moreover MLA Board Chair Dr. Michele Allan and Managing Director Richard Norton should resign for apparently working against the interests of the organization by upsetting consumers instead of charming them. With strong condemnation of this insensitive ad world over, MLA appeared to be harming it “core focus” of delivering “value to its 50,000 levy paying members by growing demand for red meat...,” Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, indicated in a statement in Nevada (USA) today.

Urging Australia Advertising Standards Bureau to act urgently against this ad, Rajan Zed pointed out that it seemed to make fun of Lord Ganesha, who was highly revered in Hinduism and was meant to be worshipped in temples or home shrines and not to be used in selling lamb meat for mercantile greed. Moreover, linking Lord Ganesha with meat was very disrespectful and highly inappropriate, Zed added.

Besides Zed; Senior Greek Orthodox Christian Priest Stephen R. Karcher, Buddhist Priest Matthew T. Fisher and well-known Jewish Rabbi in Nevada-California ElizaBeth Webb Beyer; also denounced lamb marketing using religious figures, which they said trivialized various religious figures; and urging withdrawal of the video ad. Unnecessarily dragging religious figures, who were highly revered by the adherents of their respective faiths, to sell Australian lamb meat was very disrespectful, highly inappropriate and could be disturbing for some faithful, they added in a joint statement in Nevada.

Rajan Zed stated that it was highly irresponsible of MLA to continue with this ad despite the clear expression by Hindus that it was very inappropriate and hurt their feelings. “Acts responsibly” was among The Code of Business Conduct and Ethics of MLA, and it seemed to clearly violate it with this ad. If this apparent MLA stubbornness continued despite universal condemnation, Hindus might think of launching worldwide boycott of Australian lamb meat.

India High Commission release further said: “In a video advertisement released by Meat and Livestock Australia recently, Lord Ganesha along with other religious figures is found to be ‘toasting lamb’, which the Indian community consider to be offensive and hurting their religious sentiments. The Consulate General of India in Sydney has taken up the matter directly with Meat and Livestock Australia and urged them to withdraw the advertisement.”

This “new integrated campaign continues with the theme that Lamb is the dish that brings everyone together, with the creative content for online, social and TV showing the Gods, Goddesses and Prophets of different faiths and beliefs coming together over Lamb at a modern day spring barbecue”, an MLA release about the video ad states.

MLA, with about 50,000 livestock producer members and headquartered in North Sydney, “delivers research, development and marketing services to Australia's cattle, sheep and goat producers”.
