Hindus urge all cities of Canada to allow Diwali fireworks like Brampton & Mississauga

NewsPatrolling.com / Glamourtreat.com: Hindus are urging all cities of Canada to allow fireworks on the occasion of Diwali, the most popular of Hindu festivals, like the cities of Brampton and Mississauga, both in the province of Ontario.

According to reports, Brampton residents are allowed to use short-range fireworks on their private property four times a year (Victoria Day, Canada Day, Diwali and New Year’s Eve) without the need for a permit. City of Mississauga allows fireworks to be set off on Victoria Day, Canada Day, Diwali and Chinese New Year waiving the permit requirements, reports suggest.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, said that fireworks were an inherent and important part of Diwali celebrations. In view of fast changing demographics and continuing growth of Hindu populations in increasingly diverse and multicultural Canada, marking Hindu presence in all its cities; respective city governments should seriously re-look into their regulations and allow permit-free fireworks on Diwali, so that Hindu communities did not feel left out.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, urged Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Governor General Julie Payette to persuade respective cities/towns of Canada to allow fireworks on Diwali without permit requirements on the pattern of Brampton and Mississauga. Hinduism was rich in festivals and religious festivals were very dear and sacred to Hindus, Zed added.

According to Rajan Zed; Diwali, the festival of lights, aims at dispelling the darkness and lighting up the lives and symbolizes the victory of good over evil. In 2018, Diwali falls on November seven. Hinduism is oldest and third largest religion of the world with about 1.1 billion adherents.

Airtel’s Lost TVC wins Gold at Epica Awards

NewsPatrolling.com / Glamourtreat.com Barely six months after it won treble awards at the prestigious African Cristal Festival, Airtel Nigeria’s ‘Lost’ Television Commercial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QOKJ0FGk90) has, once again, been adjudged gold winner at the Epica Awards, an annual series of communication awards, created in 1987 and based in Paris, France.
‘Lost’ is a commercial with a strong allusion to Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe. It tells the story of a man marooned on an island. It is a metaphor for how digital natives feel when they are out of data, (internet connection) or are connected to an unreliable data service which is commonplace in the growing Nigerian and West African telecoms space.
The TVC served to underscore the importance of reliable mobile Internet and data services by drawing on the use of metaphor and representation to deliver meaning as well as connecting to the audience.
Airtel Nigeria won the Epica in the Business and Public Service Category. Airtel Nigeria is the first Nigerian brand to win this global award.
Commenting on the award, Chief Commercial Officer, Airtel Nigeria, Ahmad Mokhles, said the recognition is yet another glowing testimony to Airtel’s passionate drive of connecting with consumers, sharing positive emotion and deepening bonds with its stakeholders.
“At Airtel Nigeria, the customer is at the heart of everything we do; I therefore dedicate this award to all telecoms consumers in Nigeria.
“I must also recognize the efforts and support of my colleagues and the great work of our partner agency, Noah’s Ark.”
The Epica awards is aimed at rewarding outstanding creativity and helping communication agencies, film production companies, media consultancies, photographers and design studios to develop their reputations beyond their national borders.
The awards are judged during the third week of November by journalists representing the trade press. This jury aims to achieve objectivity and widespread coverage of the results. The best work is also published in the annual Epica Book and shown in the Epica on Tour showcase.
The awards encompass all main communication disciplines: TV, Press, Outdoor, Digital, Mobile, Social, Radio, Promotions, Direct & Experiential Marketing, Media, Business-to-Business, Public Relations, Branded Entertainment, Design, Packaging, Integrated Campaigns, Film Craft, Photography and Print Craft.
Complete results of the annual awards are announced in the press and confirmed on the Epica website during the last week of November every year. Category winners (gold, silver and bronze) receive an Epica crystal pyramid. Gold, silver and bronze winners also receive certificates.

Avnet Showcases Complete System Approach for Embedded Vision in Vietnam

Avnet Embedded Vision TechDays 2017 demonstrate capabilities to support growing demand for computer vision
NewsPatrolling.com (media partnered with with Niryas.com) : Avnet Asia Pacific has brought its Embedded Vision TechDays seminar series to Asia following a successful launch in Europe last month, kicking off in Vietnam's Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on November 7 and 9 respectively.
As Vietnam sets its sights on becoming a developed nation by 2020, it has generated demand in infrastructure projects such as security products and systems that require embedded vision solutions. To address the needs of the growing embedded vision market, Avnet has initiated a series of events to provide a platform to share the latest technologies in embedded vision to Vietnamese engineers, purchasers and business owners.
"Vietnam is a high growth market at the front of the curve in terms of tech manufacturing and it's one of our key markets in Asia. With our technical expertise and global network of technology partners, we enable developers and companies in Vietnam to innovate, differentiate, and reduce time-to-market," said Frederick Fu, President of Avnet Asia Pacific.
"Major advancements in automation and sensor technology as part of our increasingly interconnected world have made embedded vision one of the fastest growing trends in the electronics industry, giving rise to a wave of IoT innovations and applications. At Avnet, embedded vision is one of our focus areas that is driven by our technical expertise and global network of technology partners. We provide a complete system approach to support the growth in embedded vision, from system-on-modules to proven reference designs that move development directly to production," he added.
From augmented reality applications in mobile phones to self-driving cars, embedded vision is changing the way humans interact with electronic devices and becoming increasingly pervasive in various IoT applications today. New advancements in computer algorithms and machine learning are expected to fuel new and enhanced applications that will impact nearly every industry -- from industrial, medical, security, and automotive to consumer.
Among the many innovative solutions that Avnet has brought to the market, one of the solutions showcased was the Avnet-designed multispectral imaging platform for surveillance applications. It overlays video feeds to deliver a smart camera sensor reference platform that picks up heat signatures from the human body as bright red spots in the output video. By leveraging the Picozed Embedded Vision Development Kit that includes hardware, software and IP components necessary for the development of custom video applications, embedded engineers, system architects and FPGA engineers can develop smart camera video applications faster and more efficiently.
Avnet also introduced the latest technologies in embedded vision applications with its strategic partners, including:
  • Infineon -- radar sensing for movement detection
  • NXP Semiconductors -- industry-leading video and audio with i.MX8
