Philips Research-led big data consortium receives EU funding to improve healthcare outcomes

NewsPatrolling.com a global leader in health technology, together with its consortium partners, today announced that it has received funding from the EU’s Horizon 2020 program to pilot big data solutions to achieve better patient outcomes in healthcare at a lower cost. The three-year program is the largest EU-funded initiative to transform the region’s healthcare sector through the use of big data. The ‘BigMedilytics’ [2] program aims to improve patient outcomes and increase productivity in the health sector by applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to complex datasets across the data value chain. This includes data from patients, healthcare providers, health insurers and medical technology providers.

"From patients capturing their own health data with wearable devices to ubiquitous monitoring across the hospital from the emergency room to the general ward, a huge amount of information about people’s health is being created," said Henk van Houten, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Research at Philips. "By applying AI to that data and combining that with clinical knowledge we are able to develop meaningful insights and workflow improvements that can improve patient care whilst reducing the burden of cost to health systems."

"This program is an opportunity to demonstrate how a value-based approach to Europe’s healthcare sector can help it transform in order to meet the changing needs of its citizens,” explained Olof Akre, Professor, Head of Prostate Cancer Patient Flow at Karolinska University Hospital in Sweden. "Big data technologies will have a big impact in health. By focusing this program on pilot implementations we will make these benefits concrete whilst creating the networks and know-how that will strengthen Europe’s position in applying big data in the health sector.”

By bringing together all the key players from across health data value chains, the program seeks to break down the barriers between traditional healthcare silos and combine data sources to unlock new insights and enable collaborative innovation. It will also ensure the security and privacy of personal data is protected and managed within national and EU regulatory frameworks.

With funding shared across 35 partners in 12 countries, the collaboration will combine insights from more than 11 million patients. It will be divided into three areas: Population Health and Chronic Disease Management, Oncology, and the Industrialization of Healthcare. With the majority of health budgets currently spent on treatment, the program will also implement pilots across the care continuum, from prevention to diagnosis, and treatment to home care. Partners in the program include healthcare providers, technology companies, insurers, pharma, SMEs, research institutes and universities.

NewsPatrolling.com : PVR Ltd, owner and operator of largest multiplex circuit, and a visionary of the Indian cinema exhibition industry; today announced the revival of its alternate content exhibition vertical - PVR LIVE as PVR LIVE 2.0 – the new season of showcasing alternate content. It acts as a voice for the emerging trends for indie & event cinema and assures a healthy supply of non-studio content, adding to the recorded broadcasts. Offering a world away from traditional cinema model, it will program and host a series of high-profile cinema events setting high standards of alternate content for the patrons.

In 2014 PVR LIVE (Entertainment Beyond Movies) successfully pioneered the step to bring global alternate content to India, to keep the movie-lovers hooked with an interesting onscreen showcase of Museum Exhibitions, Concert Films, Musicals, Ballets, Theatre/ Broadway plays and such. The first season of ‘PVR LIVE’ was quite dynamic & thrilling. The screenings of Queen, Cinderella & Swan Lake though attracted a niche audience, created considerable word-of-mouth regarding such international content being made available to our discerning viewers. The Stand-up acts AIB & Pretentious Nights were sold out in a couple of days & the reason for the same was evident in the audience hysteria at these shows. Furthermore ‘One Direction – Where We Are – The Concert Film,’ was a blockbuster with approximately 8000 admits at PVR cinemas (2 shows across multiple locations).

PVR Live 2.0 kicks-off on 24th & 25th March ’18 with screenings of PANCHAM UNMIXED - a tribute documentary directed by Brahmanand S Siingh honoring the renowned composer R.D. Burman

PVR Live 2.0 recognizes how audiences have a broad spectrum of tastes along with considerable individual variations. The importance of generating unique events with added value for the audience in terms of regular cinema screenings forms the basis of this pioneering initiative by PVR. PVR Live 2.0 offers emotionally or intellectually engaging content providing a unique shared experience of something that they would not otherwise have access to, such as the one-night special screenings, or world-renowned productions and exhibitions.

Commenting on these developments, Dharmesh Datta, Business Head - Alternate Content, PVR Limited said “Though mainstream studio content is still the rage; alternate indie content is fast emerging as a compelling option. PVR LIVE caters to this growing demand by making non studio-driven content available for consumption to the discerning patrons. PVR Live will endeavor to showcase unique content-pipeline, which has something for everyone. We feature a variety of alternate events in order to give our guests options.”

Milk Production Trends in India

Niryas.com (Full cream organic milk manufacturer) :Can you guesswhich one is the largest food crop in India? Well, it's milk! This may sound surprising, but milk production in India is worth a staggering Rs 6.5 lakh crore. This is much more than the combined value of paddy and wheat production in the country. India leads in milk production globally as well, contributing around 20 percent of the world's total milk production. As a matter of fact, India is the largest milk producer in the world.

India produces more than 165 million metric tons of milk every year and the production is growing at a rate of around 4.5 percent. The per capita consumption of milk in India also shows a healthy trend, having grown from 110 grams per person per day in the 70s to the current 360 grams per person per day. In the next 5 decades, per capita consumption of milk in India will become equal to that of US and Europe at around 800 grams per person per day. All these facts clearly point out to the growing popularity of milk and the various health benefits it offers.

The organized sector, comprising cooperative organizations and private companies, is processing around 20 percent of the overall milk production in the country. This sector is growing around 10-15 percent overall, with new products such as cream and cheese registering higher growth rate of 20-30 percent. Traditional items such as ghee and butter are growing in the range of 8-10 percent. The growth in organized sector is due to the growing preference for branded products that come with the promise of quality, freshness, purity and affordability. Rise in overall consumption of milk and milk products, is also aiding growth of organized sector.

Liquid milk is the most consumed dairy product in India, followed by other items such as dahi and ghee. Beyond this, there is cheese, butter, buttermilk, and ice-cream. Prices of milk and milk products remained stable throughout 2017, but prices may rise in 2018. Farmers in many states of the country are experiencing a tough situation, as they are not even getting the cost of milk produced. Milk prices had peaked globally in 2014-2015, but after that, the prices have been falling. This is making milk production a burden for many farmers.

However, as milk companies and cooperatives realize the long term implications, it is expected that milk prices will rise in the coming years. This would be a welcome development for farmers, even though consumers may have to shell out a bit more for their daily glass of milk.

Top Priorities for Digital Marketers in 2018

Webeesocial.com (social media service provide in Delhi) : With the New Year taking shape, it’s time for marketers to revisit their digital marketing strategies and evaluate its overall effectiveness. This would be the most appropriate time to make changes or devise new strategies to be able to achieve the digital marketing goals for 2018. A lot has changed during the last 12 months and it’s prudent that marketers focus on evolving strategies that are in line with emerging trends in the digital world. Let's take a look at the top priorities for digital marketers in 2018.

Voice search: An increasing number of web and app users have started using voice commands to search and find things that they need. This trend is evident in the increasing sales of connected speakers such as Google Home and Amazon Echo. Reports indicate that by the end of 2018, these products will be available in around 14 percent households in the United States. These voice supported devices are making inroads globally as well. Businesses will have to analyze this voice-driven landscape and devise relevant digital marketing strategies that can help achieve desired results. Focusing on voice-driven e-commerce will be a top priority for marketers in 2018.

Video: This digital marketing tool will continue to hold sway in 2018. Consumption of video content has been increasing every year and the trend will continue in 2018. Millennials would be the most relevant to target via video content since this group is the biggest consumer of video content. Recent social media features such as Instagram Stories and Facebook Live have made video content even more alluring for the young generation. Creating top quality and engaging video content will be a priority for marketers in 2018.

Augmented Reality: This is being increasingly used to create immersive experiences for users. From games to apps, product presentations and 3D virtual tours, augmented reality has transformed the way people and brands interact in the digital space. A lot more can be expected, as creating augmented reality apps has become a lot easier now with the launch of Apple’s ARKit and Google’s ARcore. Brands can experiment with AR in 2018 with the goal to improve customer experiences.

Marketers also need to focus on personalization ofdigital marketing initiatives, as it has shown to increase sales by up to 20 percent. There's huge scope for this since currently only around 6 percent of marketers have a dedicated personalization strategy. Top companies such as Google, Netflix, and Spotify have benefittedimmensely from personalization strategies and now it’s time for other businesses to follow suit. Users prefer personalized experiences, as it makes it easier for them to find things they are looking for.

NewsPatrolling.com (Media partnered with Newzopedia.com , Niryas.com , webeesocial.com & AyushmaanBhavah.comHindu mantras will open the Centerville City Council in Utah (USA) on June five, containing verses from world’s oldest existing scripture.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed will deliver the invocation from ancient Sanskrit scriptures before the Council. After Sanskrit delivery, he then will read the English interpretation of the prayers. Sanskrit is considered a sacred language in Hinduism and root language of Indo-European languages.

Zed, who is the President of Universal Society of Hinduism, will recite from Rig-Veda, the oldest scripture of the world still in common use; besides lines from Upanishads and Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord), both ancient Hindu scriptures. He plans to start and end prayer with “Om”, the mystical syllable containing the universe, which in Hinduism is used to introduce and conclude religious work.

Reciting from Brahadaranyakopanishad, Rajan Zed plans to say “Asato ma sad gamaya, Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya, Mrtyor mamrtam gamaya”; which he will then interpret as “Lead us from the unreal to the real, Lead us from darkness to light, and Lead us from death to immortality.” Reciting from Bhagavad-Gita, he proposes to urge councimembers and others present to keep the welfare of others always in mind.

Zed, a global Hindu and interfaith leader, has been bestowed with World Interfaith Leader Award. Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about 1.1 billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal. There are about three million Hindus in USA.

US-China trade war spooks global markets: Angel Broking

NewsPatrolling.com : “The trade war between the US and China threatened to precipitate after Donald Trump announced a series of trade tariffs on Chinese imports. Total Chinese imports to the tune of $50 billion will get impacted by this announcement. The entire trade war package will be much larger. Apart from the tariffs on Chinese imports, Trump also intends to penalize China for alleged theft of intellectual property from the US. Additionally, Trump has also asked the US Treasury Department to restrict Chinese investments into the US, especially in buying up American companies.

The big question is what will be the retaliation from China? Firstly, China could put retaliatory tariffs on pork and other imports from the US. But the US runs a huge $375 billion trade deficit with China and in any trade war; China is likely to get hit the most. But China holds nearly $1.4 trillion of US treasuries and that can used as a bargaining chip as any sudden sale could literally roil global bond markets. It is now clear that while Trump had declared trade war against all the trade surplus nations, the real target was always China.

What are the concerns from the US trade war to the world in general and the Indian economy in particular? Firstly, any trade war tends to be internecine meaning that all the participants tend to lose out in the end. A trade war may actually end up making the WTO redundant. Secondly, trade wars have the tendency to culminate in currency wars and if China triggers a currency war then it could have larger repercussions for global commodity markets. Lastly, the biggest worry is evident in the price of commodity stocks which have crashed. This trade war is expected to trigger a slowdown in industrial investments and also in output. That is what is putting pressure on world markets. If the Nifty cracking below the 10,000 mark is any indication, then the Indian markets are surely sufficiently worried.”

Crocs Dances into Second Year of “Come As You Are” with a Musical Starring Drew Barrymore, YOONA and Henry Lau

Best blog : NewsPatrolling.com : Crocs, Inc., a global leader in casual footwear for women, men and children, today kicks off the second year of its “Come As You Are” global marketing campaign. For 2018, “Come As You Are” transitions from an invitation to all one-of-a-kinds to a celebration of uniqueness and individuality, encouraging everyone to be comfortable in their own shoes. The campaign is led by a feature film-inspired musical starring a singing and dancing Drew Barrymore, with versions featuring the brand’s global celebrity cast.

“When we were discussing how to make ‘Come As You Are’ bigger and better for 2018, a musical was the first thing that came to my mind,” Barrymore said. “I’m not a singer or a dancer, but for this campaign to celebrate what is achievable when we are comfortable just being ourselves, I wanted to get outside of my comfort zone. I love how it turned out and it has proven to me that when you’re comfortable in your own shoes, you can do anything.”

The goal of “Come As You Are” is to spark conversation around what people can do when they’re comfortable in their own shoes – bringing authenticity and humanity to the campaign message. It will run in markets around the world and be driven by a mix of digital advertising, social media activations and influencer partnerships.

Crocs began its partnership with the Golden Globe Award-winning actress, producer, director, author, and mother to launch last year’s “Come As You Are” campaign. The partnership has evolved to include a line of special edition footwear styles for women and children, the Drew Barrymore  Crocs Collection, which launched earlier this year.

Crocs’ most popular collections will be showcased throughout the campaign, including LiteRide™, the brand’s newest innovation in comfort technology, Crocs Isabella, Swiftwater, of course, the iconic Classic Clog.

“If ‘comfort’ is our truth, then ‘Come As You Are’ is our rally cry,” said Terence Reilly, Chief Marketing Officer, Crocs. “We hope that the musical, coupled with our brand activations on social media, not only entertain but inspire consumers around the world to poke holes in convention, share their most comfortable moments and, most importantly, celebrate everything that makes them unique.”

Crocs will kick-off year two of “Come As You Are” by asking both consumers and social media influencers to define what being comfortable in their own shoes looks like – whether it’s creating a cover of the musical’s song in their own voice, choreographing a unique dance, or doing something completely original in their Crocs shoes.

Returning as global brand ambassadors and starring alongside Barrymore in an all-cast version of the musical are YOONA, the South Korean musician and actress who broke onto the scene in 2007 as a member of Girls’ Generation, and Henry, an international singer, songwriter, musician and composer.

“From day one, I knew ‘Come As You Are’ would be successful,” Henry said. “We’ve all had ups and downs, highs and lows. ‘Come As You Are’ celebrates all of life’s moments and makes you proud to be you. The musical does that in an even more upbeat, fun and positive way.”

Hindus to push for Diwali holiday as Maryland’s Montgomery Schools launches calendar survey

NewsPatrolling.com (Media partnered with Newzopedia.comAyushmaanbhavah.com , Webeesocial.com niryas.com) : Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS); headquartered in Rockville, Maryland; is launching a survey to develop 2019-2020 school year academic calendar, and Diwali is included in possible holidays listed.
Although the participation in survey is voluntary, yet distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed is urging all the current Hindu MCPS students and their parents and staff members to actively participate in providing the survey feedback (and persuade friends/sympathizers also to do the same), mentioning that it is “very important” for them that the school is closed on Diwali, most popular of Hindu festivals.
Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, in a statement in Nevada today, also urged all the current Hindu MCPS students and their parents and staff members to list other Hindu festivals also under the question: “Are there any other days that you (or your family) observe…”
Rajan Zed indicated that Diwali holiday in MCPS would be a step in the positive direction in view of presence of a substantial number of Hindu students in the district; as it was important to meet the religious and spiritual needs of these pupils. Moreover, awareness about other religions thus created by such holidays like Diwali would make all MCPS students well-nurtured, well-balanced, and enlightened citizens of tomorrow.
Diwali fell on October 19 in 2017 and six New York school districts declared holiday for students on October 19, which included: East Meadow School District, East Williston Union Free School District, Half Hollow Hills Central School District, Herricks Union Free School District, Hicksville Union Free School District and Syosset Central School District. Mineola Union Free School District announced that no home work or examinations would be given on Diwali, reports suggest.
For 2017 in New Jersey; Glen Rock Public Schools announced closure of schools and offices on Diwali; in West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District, schools were closed on October 19; and in Piscataway Township Schools, there was “No School for Students” on Diwali. And in the recent past, Millburn Township Public Schools announced Diwali day off for students for the next three years, reports add.
In 2017 Unionville-Chadds Ford School District headquartered in Kennett Square in Pennsylvania approved closure of schools on Diwali; while Harvard Public Schools in Massachusetts declared October 19 as “early release day”. Board of Directors of Council Rock School District, headquartered in Newtown (Pennsylvania), in their meeting on February 15, unanimously approved 2018-2019 calendar which includes the addition of Diwali as an official school holiday, reports note.
Zed further said that it was important for Hindu families to celebrate Diwali day together at home with their children and they expected that MCPS would display how respectful and accommodating it was to their faith by closing schools on Diwali.
Rajan Zed points out that Hinduism is rich in festivals and religious festivals are very dear and sacred to Hindus. Diwali, the festival of lights, aims at dispelling the darkness and lighting up the lives and symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
Christmas Eve through January 1Friday before Easter and Monday after Easter are state-mandated school closures. The survey has been developed in consultation with Hanover Research, a market research firm.
Hinduism is oldest and third largest religion of the world with about 1.1 billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal. There are about three million Hindus in USA.
About 161,936 students from 157 countries speaking 150 languages are reportedly enrolled in 205 schools of award-winning MCPS, 14th largest school district in USA spread in 497 square miles whose operating budged in FY 2018 was $2.52 billion.  Michael A. Durso is its Board of Education President, while Dr. Jack R. Smith is the Superintendent.

Reciting from Brahadaranyakopanishad, Rajan Zed plans to say “Asato ma sad gamaya, Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya, Mrtyor mamrtam gamaya”; which he will then interpret as “Lead us from the unreal to the real, Lead us from darkness to light, and Lead us from death to immortality.” Reciting from Bhagavad-Gita, he proposes to urge councilmembers and others present to keep the welfare of others always in mind.

Zed will also meet Chair James H. “Jim” Harvey of Weber County Board of Commissioners, Chairman Clinton L. Painter of Juab County Commission, Mayor Rick Earnshaw of Woods Cross, Mayor Kurt L. Christensen of Salem and Mayor Brenda Kozlowski of Charleston before the respective invocations.
